Nearly 40,000 people have found emergency shelter through our platform since 2022, connecting vulnerable individuals to life-saving housing resources when they need them most.

Background

The Same Kind of Different as Me Foundation was launched from the overwhelming response to the New York Times bestseller, Same Kind of Different as Me. The true story surrounds the events of art-dealer Ron Hall being healed and transformed through the most unlikely friend — a homeless man, Denver Moore. The foundation illuminates the ongoing struggles homeless people face daily and seeks to help the homeless through funding immediate needs for homeless shelters and helping those who struggle with homelessness find shelter.

Mission Statement

The Same Kind of Different as Me Foundation transforms communities by providing critical funding to homeless shelters, connecting those experiencing homelessness with essential services, and illuminating the daily struggles of our most vulnerable neighbors through compassionate action and authentic relationships.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where homelessness is met with dignity, compassion, and effective action—where every person experiencing homelessness has access to shelter, support, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Through our work, we strive to create communities where differences are celebrated, human connection transcends social barriers, and no one is forgotten or left behind. We see a future where the transformative power of authentic relationships creates lasting change for individuals and communities alike.
